Heisman Trophy winner with unbelievable speed for his size. Very big, bruising and tough. Can barrell through the line or take it to the outside. Very athletic, quick, versatile and agile, has it all.  Should have silenced critics in '99. Didn't catch many passes.  Can be a tough blocker. Real workhorse averaging 300+ carries per season. 1999 STATS: 6.1 yds/avg.  for total 1834 yds and 19 TDs.

Shaun Alexander

Alabama 6'0" 210

Runner who just makes things happen and makes people miss.An excellent receiver out of the backfield, who protects the ball and is very athletic and physically dominating. 1999 STATS: 5.0 yds/avg for a total 1286 yds and 18 TDs, 14.1 yds/rec for 321 receiving yds and 4 TDs.

Travis Prentice

Miami (Ohio) 6'0" 220

Sr.

Quality back who has had an outstanding collegiate career. Good size, speed and acceleration. Was overshadowed by alot of the more heralded backs but belongs among the elite NCAA runners. 1999 STATS: 4.7 yds/avg for 1657 total rushing yds and 17 TDd, 14.2 yds/rec for 270 yds and 4 TDs.

J.R. Redmond

Arizona State 5'11" 205

Sr.

Strong back who can be elusive and driving. Good receiving skills and progresses each year. Has had some injuries.  Was a Heisman/Doak candidate in 1998. Averaged 13.7y/pr (1TD) and had 22 catches last season.   1999 STATS: 4.8 yds/carry for 1085 total rushing yds and 12 TDs, 8.1 yds/reception for 97 yds and 1 TD, 173 PR yds.

Thomas Jones

Virginia 5'10" 205

Real workhorse who will take the ball as much as he is asked to. Can be explosive at times and can catch out of the backfield. 1999 STATS: 5.4 yds/carry for total 1798 yds and 16 TDs, Had 10.9 yds/avg receiving   for 239 ydss and 1 TD.

Speedy runner with decent size.   Protects the ball well. Gets the most out of every carry and is an asset catching out of the backfield. 1999 STATS: 6.3 yds/carry for 1602 total yds and 11 TDs, Averaged 8.4 yds/rec for 253 yds and 1 TD.

Doug Chapman

Marshall 5'10" 210

Sr.

The Thundering Herd is known for its passing, but Chapman gave their running game some rumbles as well. Very good pass receiver and protector and short yardage gainer. 1999 STATS: Had less carries in '99 but still managed a 4.2 yd/avg for 611 yds and 10 TDs, averaged 13.4 yds/rec for 282 yds and 1 TD.
